How Phone Counseling Works

Dr. David Monroe, Psy D, LPC

"Your counseling begins with a free
ten-minute consultation"

Your counseling begins with a free call to Doctor Monroe.  During the introductory  ten-minute consultation you present your counseling needs, provide your personal and credit card information.  Then a time will be established when Dr. Monroe will call you for your counseling session.  When you call be prepared to give you name, address, phone number, e-mail address and credit card number.  Visa and MasterCard is the preferred methods of payment.  Bank checks and money orders are accepted for advanced payment.
The first session has three parts.  First, the problems or issue you need to deal with are presented.  These issues can be relationship problems, feeling of depression, anxiety, sadness, grief, loss or other feelings.  These can also include behavior changes, decision making, future planning and other personal changes.
Once the problems have been described the second part of the first session will be to establish counseling goals.  A counseling goal can be anything you would like to gain from your counseling.  These can include things like having effective relationships, overcoming past feelings, making behavioral changes, planning for the future and many other goals.
During the third section of the first counseling session Dr. Monroe will give you an overview of how the counseling will work.  Initial advice or assignments will be given.  The session will end with setting an appointment for the next session.  Your credit card will be billed and a receipt sent to your e-mail.
The second session will be a history talking session.  Your personal history will be reviewed in nine areas.  The third and following sessions will focus on achieving your goals.  Your counseling will be completed when you reach your intended goals or you feel you have done as much work as you like.
We go session by session and you are not signing up for any number of session.  But a discount can be arranged if you would like to sign up for six or twelve sessions.   Counseling session are generally 60 minutes but other lengths of time can be arranged.
Your counseling is private and our information will not be given to any one without your written consent.    (Consult the private section under Hope Counseling Center page.)
